What about phase?
Privacy policy

Effective 4 July 2026

The short version

We collect nothing. What about phase? has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no trackers, and no server of ours behind it. Your recordings and settings live on your device. We never see them.

Microphone

The app uses the microphone for exactly one thing: recording your takes, only while you record. Audio is stored on your device and is transmitted nowhere — the only way a take leaves the device is if you share it yourself with the share button.

Location

If you allow location access, a freshly saved take is named after the place where it was recorded. To turn coordinates into a street name, the device asks Apple’s geocoding service; that request goes to Apple under Apple’s privacy policy, not to us. The name is stored only inside the take’s title on your device. Location is optional — decline the permission and the app simply names takes by date.

Purchases

The one-time unlock is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We receive no personal information about you from a purchase — the app only learns that the unlock is owned by the Apple ID on the device.

Your data and how to delete it

Everything the app stores — audio files, take titles, settings, the trial clock — sits in the app’s own container on your device (plus your device keychain for the trial and unlock flags). Delete any take from the takes list, or delete the app to remove everything at once. There is nothing to delete on any server, because nothing was ever sent to one.

Children

The app collects no data from anyone, children included, and shows no third-party content or advertising.

Changes

If a future version ever changes any of the above, this page will be updated first and the effective date will move.
